If you are addicted to alcohol, the first thing you have to do is Consult a Psychiatrist Alcohol de-addiction cannot be solved while sitting at home For alcohol de-addiction, you must visit a psychiatrist and get rid of intoxication It might take around a week or 10 to 15 days After that, you can take some measures for home remedies. I would like to first brief you, how a person gets addicted, there are 3 stages The first stage is Detoxification that involves de-addiction It can be performed on the basis of OPD or IPD by admitting the person The better solution is by admitting It takes around 10 to 15 days in total which is done by extracting all the alcohol from your body The next stage is Craving Management That involves medicines for the addiction Along with some therapies that helps in increasing the motivation to stay quit Along with that it also involves some neuro-modulation procedure like TDCS That means Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation which is the latest procedure till this date. For addiction and along with that, you can take some steps as home remedies as well Now let’s talk about the home remedies that we can perform. The first thing, if you have taken a resolution to quit alcohol, then you must throw away all the alcohol bottles in your home. More importantly, you must stop socializing with drinkers and start socializing with non-drinkers or ex-drinkers. The company always matters. If you start socializing with drinkers, there is a huge chance you’ll start drinking again. If you are socializing with ex-drinkers, you’ll be motivated to stay quit. And with non-drinkers, you’ll never find alcohol in front of you that will create a craving. Along with this, you can note down when and how you crave for alcohol You crave to drink in the evening or when you attend any party you crave to have some alcohol If you meet a particular person with whom you feel like drinking There is some kind of stress that makes you crave for alcohol You need to note down such cues and whenever you feel like drinking alcohol Then you need to tackle those cues with alternate steps. Either you can eat something or by drinking lots of water or by distracting yourself These are few steps through which you can try quitting alcohol at home. Along with these steps, the last decision is relapse prevention. Relapse Prevention is if you have quit drinking a year back There is a 50 percent chance that you’ll not drink alcohol That is a very important stage wherein you need to continuously take followup from a psychiatrist, psychologist and need to follow the various home remedies that I have mentioned earlier.
