Negativity: Practical Scientific Solution for Overcoming Negative Thoughts and Addictions.

Negativity: Practical Scientific Solution for Overcoming Negative Thoughts and Addictions.

A lot of people talk about ‘Negativity’
but what is it, what is it really? Is it something that exists just within our
minds, within the neurons and the chemicals of our brains, or is it
something that exists out there? Something like a virus or like oxygen?
Well by the end of this video you’ll be well on your way to answering those
questions for yourself and in the process I’ll give you three actionable
exercises that gives you a practical scientific solution that will allow you
to overcome negative thoughts and addictions for yourself today.
Let’s get started. Quantum Mechanics For Your Soul is a
scientific model that you can verify for yourself. QM4YS, as we call it, is the
foundation of a system of self-repair that explores and explains the subatomic
nature of human suffering. If you stay with me to the end of the video grab
your copy of the course workbook: ‘How to overcome automatic negative thoughts
and emotions’, it could save your life! Unfortunately, several times in my life I
can remember and I’m sure this is probably true for most people, I can
remember people that I loved, people I thought I knew, people who I thought
loved me, shouting at me and saying: “Well that’s just me, if you don’t like it
tough!” That is seriously cold and often relationships don’t come back from that
point and it’s a shame, because is that true is that really who we really are?
Are we just the sum of our automatic reactions? For instance something happens
to you that you perceive to be good for you in the short term and you tend to
feel good, something happens that you feel is bad for you in the short term
and you tend to feel bad. We live our lives on autopilot almost as if we were
the sum of our reactions to the accidents in our lives. But history
demonstrates that a life lived reactively on autopilot, unconsciously, is
a life wasted. Take for instance Harvey Weinstein, we just throw our lives
away. Now listen carefully to what I’m telling
you here because the only way that you’re going to be able to get control
of yourself, of your life, is to realise that you are not your thoughts. Let me
prove it to you. For most of us when we close our eyes and look inside it’s just
like a wall of noise, like static or white noise like when the TV’s not
quite tuned in, it’s just chaos. That’s why most of us avoid being alone with
our thoughts. If we’re alone we tend to put on music, put in headphones, turn on the
television, talk to friends. We’ll even just have a television playing in the
background, anything to avoid being alone with our own inner life. Why, because it
makes us feel uncomfortable. The thing is, for most people listening to their inner
life for the first time is a lot like listening to Mozart’s Requiem for the
first time. It just seems like a wall of sound that
washes over us but the thing is that’s just the way that we’re listening to it.
For a conductor he can identify one dud note played by one instrument in an
orchestra of 50 musicians. How does he do that? Does he have to make everybody stop
playing and then go through everybody so he can hear each one play and see if
they make a mistake? No, he does it because he can focus
entirely, specifically, on each instrument. When you do that you become deaf to the
other instruments. Now if you’re anything like me you’re probably thinking at this
point, ‘well that’s great for the conductor that’s great he can
concentrate like that, but I can’t. I’m never going to be able to concentrate a
hundred percent on anything’. But that’s not true. The truth is that we
concentrate a hundred percent every day of our lives, when you watch television
when you play sport, when you engage in a conversation with somebody that you’re
interested in, you are concentrating a hundred percent and you can do it
because you want to. You’re interested. The thing is, you can overcome your
automatic negative thoughts and emotions similarly if you want to. It’s about
wanting to. Now if you’re still with me congratulations, here’s your first tool
and it’s called awareness. Now try this exercise. Close your eyes and look within
yourself. Now depending on your life, your interest, your background, the first thing
that you might be aware of is a verbal thought. It might be something like: ‘well
this is silly, this is a waste of time, this isn’t going to work.
If you just, instead of opening your eyes and giving up at that poin,t if you just
sit with it just sit with that thought you’ll realise that beneath that verbal
thought is a feeling, a nonverbal thought, probably based on your feeling of
anxiety, your feeling of self-doubt, your feeling of nervousness or
self-consciousness. Now beneath those nonverbal thoughts you’ll be aware of
emotions. Your verbal thoughts bubble out of your deeper emotions like bubbles in
champagne. You feel the emotions mostly based on what’s going on in your life now.
Beneath that you may, depending if you’re sort of if you’re depressed or
if you’re feeling bad about things, you’ll be aware of a background feeling
a feeling that has nothing to do with what is actually happening in your life
today. That background feeling forms a window through which we view the world. For instance, I used to suffer with
anxiety so no matter how successful I was, I was always anxious. I always felt
bad I’d always look on the bad side of things in the QM4YS that prism
through which that background feeling, we call the Dark Crystal. That background
feeling it’s a bit like the noise the fridge makes. You don’t notice it you
live with it all the time every day and then when you get a power cut and the
fridge goes off you suddenly notice that hum that was always there but you just
didn’t hear. That background feeling is the prism, the crystal, through which
we view our life. The truth is none of those thoughts and emotions have any
inherent reality. It’s a hard thing to take so let me demonstrate. This is a
briefcase that contains a million dollars and here is the key that will
open the briefcase to a million dollars. If you find the key the money’s yours
tax-free. Okay now we have two boxes: in scenario one, one of these boxes contains
a really powerful acid that will melt human flesh and bone in seconds and in
the other box you have the key to a million dollars. And in this game you’re
going to be blindfolded, and you have to put your hand into one of these boxes.
Now as you put your hand in your heart’s in your mouth. As you put it in you feel
cold wet liquid you’re seconds away from losing your hand, how do you think you
would react? How would you feel? Now we’ll change the scenario. In scenario two, one
of these boxes is empty and one of these boxes is filled with water. The key to a
million dollars is in the box filled with water. Same thing, you’re blindfolded
you have to put your hand into one of these boxes. As you reach in you put your
hand into the box and you feel cold wet liquid, you’re seconds away now from being
a millionaire. How do you think you’d feel? Please
forgive my amateur dramatics, I’m no actor but it’s really important for you
to get this concept, it’s fundamental. In both of those scenarios the sensory
input is exactly the same, you feel cold wet liquid on your fingers but in each
scenario your reaction is violently different, because of three things: the
sum of your past, how you feel about that past and your expectation for the
future. The sum of your past is the story I told you, how you feel about that
past is the story about the million dollars and your expectation for the
future is the acid. Your reactions, your idea of yourself is based on the tripod
of these three things. Change any one of those supports and you would be a
different person. In the QM4YS system we call that illusion, that illusion of
the self, based on this tripod ‘the self of now’. Automatic negative thoughts
and emotions are the product of these two illusions: the self of now and the
dark crystal and here’s your second tool, Clarity. So you can now see that your
automatic negative thoughts and emotions are not really who you are because they
lack any inherent form or identity. Now if you’re anything like me at this point
you’re probably asking yourself, ‘well if I’m not the sum of my past, how I feel
about my past and my expectation for the future who the hell am I’? And it’s a
doozy of a question, it took me 30 years to figure it out but I do have an answer for
you. so If you’ll excuse the amateur dramatics,
let me explain: this bell is you. The sound of the bell is your thoughts, your
emotions, your reactions. The bell exists in its own right. The bell isn’t the
sound it makes, the bell exists as it is. If I didn’t think of it as a bell I
could use it as a bowl, I could wear it as a hat.
It exists on its own in the same way you are not your thoughts, they are just the
music that you make. So all of this means that we have two natures, we have two
urges. The illusion of the self of now is the darkness from which the automatic
negative thoughts and emotions emerge. The real you, the you, that exists beneath
your idea of you is the bell and it is that part of you that wants to get
control that wants to repair your life. It wants to get more out of life and
here’s the thing, the trick to overcoming your automatic
negative thoughts and emotions is to begin to notice them. To begin to notice
their arising, to notice where they come from to notice the buttons that life
pushes. In the description below you’ll find a link for you to download a free
workbook that will help you identify your specific automatic negative
thoughts and emotions and here’s your third tool: control. When you’ve
identified your particular negative reaction with the tools that we’ve
provided you’ll begin to notice the urge, the desire to react is a
lot like a wave that consumes you but it’s just an illusion and I can prove
it. When you were child perhaps you broke your arm broke, your leg, you had a
cast or maybe you had mumps or measles you had an itch that your parents
didn’t want you to scratch and I think for most of us we’d rather die than not
be able to scratch. We’d just do anything to scratch that itch but if you don’t if
you learn self-discipline and you don’t give in to that desire, that overwhelming
desire, all of a sudden it just evaporates. It disappears as though it
were never there. It’s just an illusion. Automatic negative thoughts and emotions
are like that and here’s the bonus: every time that you resist, every time that you
deny the self of now you grow stronger. To summarise, we’ve given you three
things: number one ‘awareness’. Wake up to the arising of the self of now, learn to
listen to your own inner music. Number two ‘clarity’. Realise that you are not
your negative thoughts and emotions you are not the self of now and you are not
the Dark Crystal, these are just symptoms of who you are. Number three ‘control’.
Learn to not give in and to restrict your reaction to your automatic negative
thoughts because they are not you. You can observe them because they are not
you. Cling to your own feeling of your own essence and let the wave of those
urges, those negative urges, wash over you and leave you behind in their wake,
stronger and cleaner than before. In my book, ‘Quantum Mechanics For Your Soul’, I
describe the subatomic nature of human negativity,
how it exists within us and how it exists out there in the world. If you’d
like to know more just visit our website: how do I fix me dot com. I should just
mention before I go that many of us have been brought up to believe that our
consciousness is the product of the neurons and chemicals in our brains.
Indeed, we’ve been taught that consciousness is an accidental product
of evolution. We’re producing a video discussing that and if you’re interested in
examining those ideas and debunking some of those myths, it would be a good idea
to go ahead and subscribe to the channel and hit the reminder bell so you don’t
miss out on any new videos from our channel. If you’ve enjoyed the video
don’t forget to like and share the video it really helps us keep the message free.
Thank you for your patience and thank you for your patience with my terrible
amateur theatrics. I hope you enjoyed the video as much as we had fun making
it. Thanks a lot. Be well.
